I have posted a few pictures of our first leg of the journey to middle earth; starting with Waikiki.
Beautiful rainbows, big blossoming colourful flowers and rich green grass . . lots of tourists!
Next we traveled to the big Island of Hawaii to the Kona Reef resort. Surprised at how desolate the countryside looks when you leave the airport. Black volcanic rock covers the foothills. As we approached the central area there were lots more beautiful shrubs, trees and flowers.
Having loads of fun with my 'grey' PT Cruiser!

Hello Ray,
That sounds fantastic!
I'll be taking the kids skating on the fozen pond at Hawrelak this weekend. Reading about the weather where you are, and thinking about you fly-fishing, it is hard to beleive we are all on the same planet.
Have a Merry Christmas.
Rob
Wow Ray - all of it looks so beautiful!!!! Have a great time, and Merry Christmas!!!
Patricia
Hey Ray, it must be weird not having snow and cold for christmas but I am sure you can handle it!
I didn't get a chance to see you before you left because I was at home sick but I am glad you are keeping in touch with this blog.
Merry Christmas and enjoy your trip, Aloha!
Kyle
Wow!! You look really macho in the short sleeves and the PT Cruiser!! We are missing you, and think about you regularly. Looks like you and Devborah are creating soem fantastic memories. Hang Loose!!!
Aloha Big Kahuna Ray!
Wish I was there - scope out some great wedding photo scenery for me ;)
Have a wonderful time and a great start to the new year.

Looks beautiful there Ray! Jody saw the pictures too and said to tell you she likes your choice of rental car (and color!). We both hope you and Debra have a wonderful Christmas over there. On another note, I'm glad that Alex will be here in the new year - that "acting principal" thing you bestowed on Wes has really gone to his head. Talk about a power trip! I disagreed with him just once and he paid some thugs (I'm pretty sure it was Italian mafia) to work me over and I ended up with a broken arm! Needless to say, Rynie hasn't said a peep since. Can you dictatorship?? Ha Ha!!
Take care and all the best in 2008,
Greg
Hi Ray, looks like you are having a wonderful time. I imagine you are in Australia by now, and I am sure you are still enjoying yourselves.
